Course Title: VoIP Network Design Using EcoNets
Course Description: Provide an understanding of integrated telecommunications network modeling and design techniques using analytical and computer tools with emphasis on self-paced, hands-on experience using a user-friendly software called EcoNets.
Prerequisites: Familiarity with basic concepts of telecommunications, data communications, telephony and probability/statistics. Work experience involving similar concepts can also be satisfactory. If these prerequisites are not met, one may need additional teaching time not included in this course.
Textbook: "Network Design Using EcoNets" by Roshan L. Sharma, Intl. Thomson Computer Press, 1997, Boston. It comes with a software diskette. Additional information on textbook is at <www.econets.com>.

Time to start and complete: There is no set time to start or complete the course. The textbook is designed to help the student to complete the course at his/her own pace. If the student is already well versed in the associated concepts of telecommunications, telephony and data communications and has some experience in network design, he or she can immediately proceed to Slide Set 7 and start learning EcoNets and use it for designing Voice, Data and Integrated V/D networks, and VoIP networks based on packetized voice. One can also ignore the 9th week Course Slide Set#9 or CSS9.ppt if not interested in ACD/VPN design process. In this way, one can learn to use EcoNets and design a VoIP in about 40 hours. One may compare one's results with those obtained by the Instructor. Go to the page <Answers.html>. After one has completed the task, one should prepare a MSWord or HTML document, include all the network design related assignments and send it as an attachment (approximately 100 Kbytes or less) to the final E-Mail only if interested in obtaining a Cerificate of Completion.
